Churchdown Village Infant School

Our Multi Academy Trust

The Gloucestershire Learning Alliance

We are part of the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA), a close-knit Trust of nine primary schools across Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.  We work closely with Bishops Cleeve Primary Academy, Rowanfield Junior School, Rowanfield Infant School, Springbank Primary Academy, Longford Park Primary Academy, Badsey First School, Tredington Primary School and Great Oldbury Primary Academy.

Who are the GLA?

The Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA) is an education charity funded by the Department for Education to run and improve schools. They have a single legal and moral purpose: to advance education for the public benefit. Their overriding responsibility as a trust is to effectively combine resources and expertise so that all schools can support every child to fulfil their potential, meaning they can leave primary school excited and empowered to develop their talents further in the next stage of their education.

The Trust work in partnership with many organisations across the region, most notably the two local authorities where our schools are based (Gloucestershire and Worcestershire). The GLA is a growing trust with a total of approximately 2,400 pupils and pre-schoolers and 400 members of staff.

GLA's purpose: Within the GLA we are united in our belief that all children deserve equity of education. Our consistent focus each day is to develop our people and direct our resources so that all children are safe, happy and can achieve their potential.

GLA's vision: Our aim is for every child to leave the Trust feeling proud and with a sense of confidence about their next steps. Proud to have achieved something special with their unique talents and confident to develop those talents further in the next chapter of their education.

Hello from Claire Savory - GLA CEO

The GLA is a family of schools who work together to provide exceptional learning opportunities for 2,400 children aged two to 11. We have about 400 staff, whose success and wellbeing is a high priority for us. Our trust began in 2013 and now comprises of 9 primary schools in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Each of our schools is rooted in its community, while benefiting from being part of a wider, outward-looking trust.

I started as the CEO of the Trust in September 2023 having previously been the Director of Academies and Head Teacher of one of our founding schools, Rowanfield Junior School. My decision to apply for the role of the CEO at the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA) can be answered by this quotation:

‘Look at every path closely. Then ask yourself, and yourself alone the question: does this path have a heart?’ Carlos Castaneda, The Teachings of Don Juan.

This pathway for me has a heart – the heart being the children of the GLA. I am deeply ambitious for our Trust over the coming years and my vision will be to continue to put children at the centre of all that we do, collaborating and learning from others.

The GLA is an inclusive trust and welcomes all children. We have a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities lead who works across all schools to ensure children’s needs are met. We have a strong track record in school improvement and work closely with the local authority and Department for Education. We continue to develop partnerships and links that can help influence and improve teaching and learning as well as the welfare of our children and staff.
