Welcome to Year Two - Autumn

In Literacy this term we will be learning about / writing:

  • The 4 main sentence types: statements, questions, commands, exclamation
  • Instructional texts
  • Acrostic poems
  • Diary entries
  • Fictional stories
  • Letters

In Maths this term we will be focusing on:

  • Number and place value
  • Addition and subtraction
  • Multiplication and division
  • Times tables: 2, 5, 10
  • Fractions
  • Measure - length/height, weight/mass, temperature, capacity
  • Time
  • Patterns and sequences
  • Properites of shape
  • Statistics

In Topic we will be focusing on a number of areas including:

  • Art - Collaging, Edward Wilson, pensil and pastel work
  • Music - Creating body percussion pieces and using unstruments to recreate a piece of music
  • D&T - Making Paddington cupcakes, marmalade sandwiches & creating our own little Paddingtons
  • Geography - Similarities and differences betweeen 2 contrasting areas, oceans and continents & map and compass work 
  • Science - Survival needs
  • Computing - programming
  • RE - Diwali, Hinduism, Christianity, Festivals
  • History - Edward Wilson
